Who Teravita are
A manufacturer of raised garden beds. A bed is not one product but a matrix: three shapes, five plans, four heights and four wood colours, combined with each other.
Their developer could manage neither the configurator nor a decent website, and the deadline did not move. The entire build had to be taken over — and with a product that cannot be sold without a configurator at all: the buyer does not choose between products, they assemble their own.
The whole matrix, not a selection
Twenty-five builds, each in four wood colours. That is a hundred renders, and not one combination could be left out, because every one of them is something a buyer can choose. The grid below is arranged the way the product itself is: a column is a plan, a row is a height, and the last row holds the shapes that have no plan. Every cell cycles through all four colours, so the page really does hold all hundred renders rather than a selection from them.

A configurator built from scratch
Because every combination is its own render, the configurator does not have to assemble anything on the fly: a choice is a file name. The recording goes through all four axes in turn, one at a time, and shows at each what happens to the product. Where a shape has no plan or no height, that choice disappears rather than greying out: the corner bed has one plan, the multi-level one is a single build.
